LEXINGTON, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — Lexington Local Schools Superintendent Jeremy Secrist has announced his resignation, telling staff and community members he is preparing to begin a new chapter in his career.

Secrist submitted his resignation letter to the Lexington Board of Education on Thursday. According to the letter, his resignation will take effect July 31, pending board approval and his appointment to a new position.

District officials have not disclosed where Secrist will be employed next. The Board of Education is not expected to formally accept the resignation until his hiring by another district or organization is finalized.

In a letter to staff, Secrist thanked employees for their dedication to students and the school community.

“I want to start by saying how deeply appreciative I am of everything you do each day, the impact you have on the lives of our students and your colleagues, and the difference you have made in the lives of my four children,” Secrist wrote.

He also praised staff members for their commitment to one another and the community.

“You are strong, supportive, and compassionate, as evidenced in how you continue to show up for each other and our community in times of need,” Secrist wrote.

Secrist’s departure will mark the end of his tenure leading the district, though school officials have not yet released details about plans for selecting his successor.

Additional information about Secrist’s future position has not been announced.
