BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Crestline man involved in a standoff with police last September returned to court Thursday morning to hear the results of a court-ordered competency evaluation related to multiple felony charges.

Michael Tesso, 29, of Crestline, is facing 20 second-degree felony counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

During Thursday’s hearing in Crawford County Common Pleas Court, Judge Sean Leuthold reviewed the findings of an evaluation conducted by the District V Forensic Diagnostic Center. The competency evaluation had been ordered by the court in December and was completed by video conference.

According to court records, evaluators determined that Tesso is competent to stand trial.

However, Tesso’s court-appointed attorney, Jerry Thompson, has requested a second opinion regarding the evaluation findings.

The charges stem from an incident last September in which Tesso engaged in a standoff with Crestline police. Additional proceedings in the case are expected as the court considers the request for a second evaluation.

Tesso remains in the Crawford County Jail under a million dollar bond.
