BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus Police Department will host a bicycle and electric bicycle safety class this Sunday to educate local youth and residents on safe riding practices amid a surge of two-wheeled traffic on local streets.
The initial session is scheduled for June 30 at 5 p.m. at Aumiller Park, Pavilion 11. Officer N. Graves will lead the instruction, which is tailored for young cyclists and adult e-bike operators.
Department officials acknowledged the short notice for the event but noted that development of the curriculum was accelerated to address immediate traffic safety needs.
“It has been something we have been working on to create due to the substantial volume of e-bikes and bicyclists riding on the roadway,” the department said in a statement.
For residents unable to attend this weekend’s session, a second class covering the same safety material will be held on July 19 at 5 p.m. at the same location.
The events are free and open to the public.
