BUCYRUS — Leeann Dalton of Bucyrus appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court for sentencing on Thursday afternoon.
Dalton, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, a second-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison. Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold said that there were many victims in this case and that Dalton would have to make restitution to several victims. Leuthold ordered Dalton’s probation from an older case to be held and resumed upon her release from prison.
“You came into this court and took responsibility for your crimes,” Leuthold said. “You have done something that has hurt other people and it will not be tolerated in Crawford County.”
Dalton was sentenced to four years in prison. She will receive 39 days of jail time credit.
In other court action, Daniel Bloomfield, 34, of Bucyrus appeared in court to plead guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. Bloomfield was sentenced to prison in May 2018 for felonious assault, a second-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison. He was sentenced to four years in prison and then given a judicial release in November 2018.
Bloomfield admitted violating the terms and conditions of his community control by confessing to several allegations including drug trafficking, twice associating with a known felon and failing to notify his supervising officer when he had contact with police after an overdose in Mansfield.
Bloomfield’s supervision officer Chris Heydinger had worked hard to help Bloomfield but when probation officer Eric Bohach took Bloomfield’s phone and downloaded texts, they learned that Bloomfield was in active trafficking of suboxone. According to Bohach, Bloomfield sent more than 300 texts to others saying he could sell them the drug.
When asked if he had anything to say Bloomfield told the court he is not a bad guy and not an addict. He said he wanted to be a good parent. He apologized to Heydinger and said he wanted to be honest with him.
“I have a lot of compassion. My heart is absolutely breaking for your family sitting in this court room,” Leuthold said. “You have two handsome sons in here that are going to have to watch their dad get sentenced. You have been selling drugs, for the love of God, while you’re on probation! Most people don’t have the support you have here, a good-looking family that cares about you.”
Leuthold noted that the underlying felony was a bar fight.
“After you get out, you overdose and nearly die and then you’re engaging in trafficking drugs all while you’re on community control,” Leuthold said. “That will never be tolerated in Crawford County. It’s time for you to go away and try to get your life together.”
Leuthold sentenced Bloomfield to four years in prison, but he will receive credit for jail time served.
