Support for the Crawford County Humane Society is expected to come from both two- and four-legged sources this coming Saturday.
The local Humane Society will be holding its annual Paws Walk fundraiser, which will start at 10 am at its location on St. Rt. 98 in front of the Outhwaite Reservoir. There will be a 5K run with registration beginning at 8 a.m. followed by the Paws Walk activities and laps with man’s best friend around the reservoir.
Victoria Hartschuh explains what all will be happening on Saturday.
“We have The Paws Walk 5K and then we have the Paws Walk which starts later. If we have enough people we have three groups go out. You get a poker hand at the end and whoever wins that group we have a special prize for that individual,” Hartschuh said. “We will have a microchip clinic and a rabies clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.”
The cost for those services are $15 for the microchip and $10 for a rabies vaccination. Hartschuh said both fees were comparable to or even less than what is charged at most veterinarian offices.
All the money raised will go to the local Humane Society. That group is trying to raise funds specifically to provide medical care for animals it takes in as well as other costs associated with operating the shelter.
