BUCYRUS — Ronnie Olmstead of Bucyrus appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Thursday to change his pleas and receive his sentence.

Olmstead, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a first-degree felony punishable with up to eight years in prison and one count conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.

Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Olmstead to four years in prison on the possession of drugs charge and 11 months on the drug conveyance charge for a total of four years and eleven months in prison.

Olmstead will receive jail time credit of 144 days.

In other court action, Notasha Bayless, 36, of Bucyrus appeared in for a hearing to revoke her from the prosecutor’s diversion program. Bayless failed to make restitution to the victim.

Leuthold placed Bayless on five years of community control with the condition that she pay restitution. Bayless pleaded guilty to four counts of passing bad checks, each a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison. In total, if Bayless fails to complete the terms and conditions of her community control, she faces four years in prison.

Leuthold was not impressed with Bayless’ appearance in court.

“You have made a terrible impression on me today. When you come back into this court, you’d better dress more appropriately,” Leuthold said.

Leuthold assigned probation officer Chris Heydinger to supervise Bayless.

“I hope this gets your attention because if it doesn’t, you’re looking at four years in prison,” Leuthold said.

Paul Elchert, 52, of Crestline failed to appear for a hearing to revoke his participation in the prosecutor’s diversion program. Elchert’s attorney, Tani Eyer, informed the court that she had tried to contact Elchert and could not leave a message because voicemail had not been set up on his telephone.

Leuthold ordered a warrant for Elchert’s arrest.
