With the weather outside potentially frightful many of the high school basketball games in Crawford County had an early start Friday night.
The Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford, Wynford/Upper Sandusky, Crestline/Riverdale, and Buckeye Central/Galion games all had one hour earlier start times with J.V. teams tipping off at 5 p.m. as opposed to the normal 6 p.m. due to potentially hazardous conditions with an approaching low pressure system.
While the cold and blowing snow was to be dealt with outside the race for the NCC Girls Basketball crown heated up Friday with Wynford improving to 13-3 with a 9-1 NCC record by beating Upper Sandusky 32-26.
Brenna Quinn led the Wynford Lady Royals with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Kalene Johnson led the Lady Rams of Upper Sandusky with 10 points.
With the loss Upper Sandusky falls to 7-8 overall with a 5-5 NCC record.
Riverdale continued their dominance in the NCC as well defeating Crestline 76-33. The Lady Falcons improve to a 12-3 overall record and a 9-1 NCC record with the win.
Jordan Wright led Riverdale with 24 points with Jenessa Taylor contributing 16 for the Lady Falcons.
Kenzie Ronk led the Crestline Lady Bulldogs with 7 points.
Crestline now stands at 1-14 with a 0-10 record in conference play.
Bucyrus defeated Colonel Crawford 54-36 to improve to a 13-4 overall record and 7-3 NCC record.
Bucyrus started off the game scoring the first 8 points and never looked back as Hannah Wyeth led the Lady Redmen with 16 points. Macey Sheerer added 15 points, and Kelci Simms contributed 11 points
Colonel Crawford fell to a 3-13 overall record with the loss and a 3-7 record in the NCC. Lexi Hoepf led the Lady Eagles with 11 points.
In other NCC action the Galion Lady Tigers defeated the Buckeye Central Buckettes 58-53. Stats for this game were not immediately available.
