Crawford County Municipal Court Judge Sean Leuthold made sure Chad Randall won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Randall is charged with attacking Bucyrus Police Officer Sam Caldwell with a spear on Tuesday and Leuthold set bond Wednesday at $1.5 million.
Randall is charged formally with the first-degree felony of an attack on a police officer. If convicted, Randall could be sentenced to a maximum term of 10 years in prison.
Caldwell was responding to a 911 call when Randall came out of the residence and charged Caldwell with a spear. Caldwell did suffer minor injuries before subduing Randall.
Randall has no record of a felony conviction in Crawford County although his legal history includes several outstanding warrants and multiple charges of misdemeanor offenses including domestic violence and theft.
In other news from the courthouse on Thursday trafficking in drugs landed a Bucyrus man in prison for the next two years.
Stephan Bloomfield, 31, pleaded guilty to a felony two trafficking in drug charge and a felony three aggravated possession of drugs charge in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday afternoon. Bloomfield’s three years of community control for the felony three charge will be tolled until he is released from prison.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jayme Fawley of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to two felony charges Wednesday. Fawley was placed on community control after pleading guilty to a felony three burglary charge and a felony five drug possession charge.
