Blake Treisch of Colonel Crawford was named Spitzer Motors Game Changer of the Week and McDonald’s/Q92.7 Player of the Game.

Treisch made a clean sweep of both the Spitzer Motors Game Changer of the Week and the McDonalds/Q92.7 Player of the Game awards.

“Knowing that we came back from 8-0 and that second half – getting it going,” Treisch said about what he enjoyed most about Colonel Crawford’s win over Mohawk on Friday. “My line helped us get it in gear. I have to give credit to them.”

Treisch broke open a 29-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Eagles their first lead of the game as Colonel Crawford toppled Mohawk 24-8. The senior running back has run for over 550 yards through the first three games of the season for the undefeated Eagles.

In Friday’s game against the Warriors, Treisch scored all three Colonel Crawford touchdowns, added a pair of two-point conversions and sacked the Mohawk quarterback in the end zone for a safety. Treisch finished the night with 156 rushing yards on 30 carries.

Also receiving a McDonald’s Player of the Game award on Friday of Week 3 was Mohawk’s Keith Jenkins. Jenkins rushed for 72 yards on 13 carries and was eight-of-12 passing for 65 yards.

Spitzer Motors Game Changer of the Week award winners receive a T-shirt commemorating their performance and McDonalds Player of the Game honorees receive a gift certificate for two regular size value meals redeemable at either McDonalds of Bucyrus or Galion.

“I really feel like I showed up to play,” Treisch said, of Friday’s stellar performance, “and the hard work in practice is paying off.”

Previous Spitzer Game Changer of the Week award winners were Robbie Miller of Wynford in Week 1 for his performance in the Royals’ 41-14 win over Liberty-Benton, and Jordan Imbody of Wynford for his contributions in the Royals’ successful defense of the Copper Kettle in their win over Bucyrus by the score of 48-13.

The McDonalds/Q92 Player of the Game award winner in Week 1 was Zach Hoffman of Wynford. Hoffman was named a repeat winner in Week 2 along with Hayden Johnston of Bucyrus.

Each week for the balance of the local high school football season, Crawford County Now will feature winners of the Spitzer Game Changer of the Week and the McDonalds/Q/92 Player of the Game awards on Monday evenings as selected by Jeff Roberts and Josh Stallings.
