Crawford County Sheriff’s deputies have been carrying new weapons for about two weeks thanks to the bartering capabilities of Sheriff Scott Kent.

Every deputy was recently issued a new service weapon. The new weapons were a Glock model 22 and .40-caliber pistol. Each weapon is also equipped with a detachable light which allows the deputies to keep a hand free during building searches and low-light situations.

forfeited firearmsThe purchase of the weapons was funded entirely through the trade of several forfeited firearms seized from investigations into criminal activity and the old deputies’ weapons which were Smith and Wesson models. No tax dollars were used to purchase the new weapons.
