Galion Mayor Tom O’Leary vetoed a resolution Thursday that requested the Ohio Attorney General to investigate the contracts through American Municipal Power with Prairie State and now the Council President is asking residents to speak up.

Galion City Council President Don Faulds sent out a press release Friday asking residents to voice their opinions on O’Leary’s veto. The press release can be read in full below.
To all those receiving a Galion City electric bill:

Our Resolution to the Ohio Attorney General asking him to investigate our open-ended, pay-or-take, hell-or-high-water contract with AMPOhio providing electricity from Prairie State was passed at our last City Council Meeting.

However, our Mayor has chosen to veto this Resolution, stating that in his opinion it is not in the best interest of the City of Galion.

What this means to all of us is that we could be facing astronomically higher bills in the near future which would easily deplete our electric fund and force the City to charge much higher electric rates.

The Mayor has given his opinion, what’s yours? Contact your Council Member or come to the Council Meeting Tuesday night, September 10th at 7:00 PM. This will be a historic City Council Meeting as Council will have on the Agenda a vote to override the Mayor’s veto.

Please plan on attending Tuesday’s Council Meeting, as you can make a difference. We want to hear from you.
