BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has announced that its annual meeting will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Pickwick Place in Bucyrus.
This year’s keynote speaker is Jana Houser, a meteorologist and award-winning storm chaser. Houser will address recent changes in regional weather patterns, including the shifting of traditional tornado belts and an increase in local severe storm activity.
“She’s going to be talking about that uptick in tornadic activity in the area and how the tornado belt is shifting,” said Mike Hall of the Crawford County SWCD. “She’s won several awards and is pretty renowned in this field, so we feel blessed to have gotten her to come and speak.”
In addition to the keynote presentation, the event will feature supervisor elections, a review of local conservation efforts, and the presentation of the district’s annual Cooperator of the Year Award.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with a catered taco bar dinner served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dessert from Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream. Tickets are $16 per person, and attendees must register by Aug. 16 for meal planning. Registration and ticket inquiries can be made by contacting the Crawford SWCD office or visiting crawfordswcd.org.
