BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The public is invited to join the family of former BHS Teacher Carl Rexroad, this Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Bucyrus High School.  A tree-planting ceremony honoring the late Carl Rexroad, a beloved Bucyrus City Schools teacher.

Mr. Rexroad joined Bucyrus High School in 1968 and taught middle school science, American history, government, world geography, and driver’s education before retiring in 1991. Known for his witty sayings, entertaining stories, encouragement, and support of critical thinking, he made a lasting impact on generations of students. Many former students continued to stay in touch with him long after his teaching career ended.

Carl earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Findlay College and a master’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University. Before coming to Bucyrus, he taught at Bell Center and Upper Sandusky.

In honor of his lifelong love of the Ohio State Buckeyes, a Buckeye tree will be planted in his memory. The ceremony will coincide with the Bucyrus Tree Commission’s Fall Arbor Day event, with Mary Lee Minor and Andy Furner in attendance.

Carl’s family members attending include his son, Ben Rexroad; daughter-in-law, Julie Rexroad; grandson, Tyler Rexroad; brother, Gary Rexroad; and sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Chuck Gerringer.

The family especially invites former students, colleagues, friends, and anyone who knew Carl to join us in celebrating his life and legacy.
