MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Renaissance Education Department has announced its annual Improv Underground “Open Mic” Night, scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
The performance will take place in Theatre 166, the Renaissance Theatre’s black-box venue located at 166 Park Avenue West in downtown Mansfield.

The one-night-only event serves as a showcase for middle and high school students who have completed a six-week intensive through the Renaissance’s Improv Underground after-school program. Led by Teaching Artist Dauphne Maloney, the curriculum focuses on fostering creativity, collaboration, and quick thinking in performers ages 14 to 19.
“Improv Underground provides young performers with a unique opportunity to explore the art of improvisational comedy in a supportive and encouraging environment,” the department said in a statement.
Throughout the evening, students will engage in a series of spontaneous scenes, comedic challenges, and games fueled by audience suggestions. The program aims to build life skills such as confidence and teamwork alongside theatrical training.
The event is free and open to the public, operating on a “Pay What You Can” ticket model. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and while no advance reservations are required, tickets are available online at rentickets.org or at the door.
Part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series, the production still has sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses. Interested parties may contact Grace Reigel at grace@mansfieldtickets.com.
