MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—An autopsy conducted on a 42-year-old man, Andrew Westlund, who was fatally shot in a road rage incident on December 21, has revealed the presence of methamphetamines in his system.
The incident occurred on Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario, where Westlund was shot once in the chest by 27-year-old Wesley Patrick, who was charged with voluntary manslaughter.
However, in January, a Richland County grand jury declined to indict Patrick. He had been held in the Richland County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.
The autopsy report, recently obtained by another media source through a public records request, confirmed that Westlund died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The toxicology analysis found significant levels of methamphetamine and amphetamine in his bloodstream. The toxicology results stated 22 ng/ml of amphetamine and 146 ng/ml of methamphetamine were found.
Details shared by Ontario police during a press conference on December 22 indicated that both drivers were traveling southbound on Lexington-Springmill Road over U.S. 30 at approximately 8:55 p.m. on the night of the incident.
Westlund reportedly exited his vehicle and walked up to Patrick.
Police said Patrick told officers he rolled down his window and fired one round, striking Westlund.
