Brad McKibben took the oath of office Monday night, officially becoming a member of the Colonel Crawford Board of Education. A 1993 alum, this will be McKibben’s first public office.
He is an insurance agent in private life, he runs the Insurance Center of Bucyrus. He is also a pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky.
“It’s near and dear to heart,” McKibben said of Colonel Crawford, “My children go here and I feel like I could be a good liaison between the District and the School.”
Sitting council member Norm Huber was quick to express his gratitude at McKibben taking a seat on the board.
“I’d like to thank Brad McKibben for stepping up. We’re glad to have him on our board.”
Shane Stuckman also took the oath of office as he was re-elected to his post in November.
Among other housekeeping tasks, committee assignments were handed out. The Finance Committee will be McKibben and Margie Hoyles; Legislative Liaisons will be Stuckman and McKibben; Negotiations and Personnel will be Tim Ley and Huber; Buildings and Grounds will be Huber and Stuckman; and Board Policy Review will be Hoyles and Ley.
Ley was also appointed as board president for 2016, his third time being appointed to that post.
“I have been blessed with great board members, past and present,” Ley commented on his 22 years of service, “And wonderful superintendents over my period on the school board.”
The regular meeting for January will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 25 in the William and Hannah Media Center.
