It will be a clash for five elected leadership positions within Crawford County in the March Primary Election. The Board of Elections approved the certification of the declaration of candidacy petitions Monday.
Incumbent Republican Doug Weisenauer is being challenged for his county commissioner seat at the March 15 Primary Election. Jeff Sheerer will be running against Weisenauer in the republican spot while Daniel Wirebaugh is the lone entry for the Democratic race. Wirebaugh won an At-Large position on the Bucyrus City Council at the General Election this past November.
Three people will be challenging for the County Commissioner seat currently held by Steve Reinhard. Republicans Terry Gribble, former commissioner Mo Ressallat, and Michael Schiefer will challenge each other for the position.
In the race for County Prosecuting Attorney, incumbent Republican Matthew Crall will be challenged by fellow Republican and current Bucyrus Law Director Rob Ratliff.
Steve Reinhard will be giving up his seat as county commissioner and will be running as a Republican for State Representative of the 87th District. Republicans Wes Goodman and Tom Whiston will challenge Reinhard for the state congress spot.
Republican Julie Wells and Democrat Dawn Schnabel are the only entries in their respective parties running for the County Recorder position.
Sheriff Scott Kent, County Treasurer Cynthia Edwards, County Engineer Mark Baker, and County Coroner Christopher Johnson are each running unopposed for their seats in office.
The Representative to Congress of the 4th District will be up for grabs as Republican incumbent Jim Jordan will take on the winner of the Democrat primary, which is currently between Norbert Dennerll of Elyria, Janet Garrett of Oberlin, and Daniel Johnson of Plain City in the November election.
Two Issues will be up for vote in the May Primary Election with the Bucyrus 4a Liquor Option being up for vote. The option if passed would allow for the sale of beer to be permitted on Sunday between the hours of 11 a.m. and midnight at the Circle K on North Sandusky Streeet.
The Ridgedale Local School District will be searching for an income tax levy of .5% on earned income of individuals residing in the district for a 5 year period for the purpose of permanent improvements.
