The Galion swim team traveled to Friendly House, Mansfield to swim the Lexington high school team on Dec. 15. The Lex women won 128-46 and the Lex men won 89-77.
Allison DeNero won the 100 butterfly event and was second in the 200 IM event for the Lady Tigers. Bri Wallis had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Eli Skaggs paced the men Tigers with dual wins in the 200 IM and 100 yard butterfly events. Sam Rigdon had two wins in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Luke Eisnaugle won the 100 yard breaststroke and was second in the 100 yard backstroke. Lucas Conner had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 and 500 yard freestyle events. The men won seven of the 11 events, including two out of three relays.
“Diving and depth of the Lexington team was the difference,” said Galion swim coach Ted Temple. “I was proud of the team to swim so well this early in the season.”
The Galion Tigers will swim in the Colonel Crawford relays on Saturday and then it is two weeks of grinding morning practice during the holidays.
