SANDUSKY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)–The Midwest’s premier amusement parks are preparing for spooky season with the return of their signature fall events, HalloWeekends at Cedar Point and Halloween Haunt at Kings Island. Both parks will introduce a new, interactive “SCREAMium” experience based on the popular horror movie franchise, The Conjuring.

HalloWeekends at Cedar Point runs on select days and nights from Sept. 11 to Nov. 2. The event will feature a mix of family-friendly daytime activities and “blood-curdling scares by night.” The park’s five haunted mazes will now require a separate purchase of a Haunted Attractions Pass, a change designed to enhance the experience.

Kings Island‘s Halloween Haunt will return on select days and nights from Sept. 19 to Nov. 2. In addition to the new The Conjuring: Beyond Fear experience, the park is adding a new haunted maze, “Order of the Dragon.” Like Cedar Point, Kings Island’s haunted mazes will also require a separate Haunted Attractions Pass.

The new interactive attraction, The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, is an extra-charge experience at both parks. Guests will step into the role of a paranormal investigator, navigating iconic scenes from The Conjuring Universe to contain cursed artifacts and confront legendary entities such as The Nun and Annabelle. The experience is designed to last more than 20 minutes, using “state-of-the-art effects” and “screen-to-scream environments.”

For families, both parks will offer daytime fun. At Cedar Point, this includes trick-or-treating, hay bale mazes, and live shows. Kings Island will host “Tricks and Treats” with a Trick-or-Treat Trail, mask-making, and a kids’ costume contest.

Kings Island also announced the permanent closure of the family dark ride, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, on Sept. 1, to make way for future development.

For guests looking to visit both events, a special season pass offer is available. A 2026 Gold Pass, available for purchase through Sept. 1, grants unlimited visits to both parks’ Halloween events and their respective waterparks in 2026, along with access to more than 40 Six Flags theme parks.
