CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A new mural celebrating Crestline’s rich railroad history is set to adorn a downtown building, a collaborative effort between Crestline Community Development and the Crestline Historical Society.
The mural, depicting a train at Union Station with smoke billowing from its stack, will be installed on the north side of a building located between his property and the Crestline Advocate newspaper.
Notably, two young boys featured in the historic photo are still alive today. One, Mr. Saxton, resides in the Crestline nursing home and is reportedly excited to see the image of himself and his friend displayed so prominently.
The mural will not be painted but rather printed on vinyl and heat-adhered to the brick building, a newer technique. Anthony Leins of Lee Screen Printing and Mike Gradient of Crestline are handling the production. The mural is expected to be approximately 10 by 13 feet.
Installation is pending a stretch of warm, dry weather, with August or September being potential targets. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned with the Chamber of Commerce once the mural is in place.
