Kyle McClintock pleaded guilty to a charge of felony drug possession back in June without a sentencing agreement in place. Thursday it was time for the 29-year-old Galion man to find out what was next.
McClintock’s sentencing hearing in front of Judge Russell Wiseman in Common Pleas Court didn’t last long – just long enough for the judge to tell him community control was the right way to go in his case.
“Given the fact you seem to be doing everything you can do,” Wiseman said, citing McClintock’s sobriety without further incident over the past 12 months while out on bond. “Given the exception you’ve used up eight of nine lives, two strikes and any other cliché` I can think of, I believe this is the appropriate sentence.”
Wiseman sentenced McClintock to five years of community control, instituted a $1,250 drug fine and suspended his driver’s license for six months with occupational privileges plus driving to and from medical and counseling appointments.
The judge further warned McClintock that should he not successfully complete community control he was subject to a 12-month prison sentence.
