NEW WASHINGTON, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—As the fall harvest season approaches, the Buckeye Central FFA Alumni is partnering with local producers to raise funds to support Buckeye Central FFA members. The funds raised will help reduce student expenses for attending the National FFA Convention and Ohio FFA Camp.
The National FFA Convention, held annually in Indianapolis at the end of October, provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore future careers in agriculture, and connect with the agricultural community. The Ohio FFA Camp, located in the Muskingum Valley on Leesville Lake, offers a week-long experience where students can enhance their leadership, communication, and networking skills.
The Buckeye Central FFA Alumni has introduced a new initiative called “Splash of Grain.” This program encourages local farmers to donate a portion of their harvest to support FFA members. Farmers can contact Mr. Pope, the Buckeye Central FFA Advisor, to arrange for an FFA member to collect the donation. The donated grain will be taken to a local elevator for marketing, with the proceeds benefiting the FFA members.
Farmers can choose the amount of grain they wish to donate, whether it be 5 bushels or 50 bushels. The Buckeye Central FFA Alumni hopes this initiative will become a traditional fundraising effort, providing targeted support for FFA members without overburdening the community with additional fundraisers.
For more information or to participate in the “Splash of Grain” program, contact Mr. Pope at Buckeye Central High School.
