MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Mansfield Division of Police disclosed body camera footage following the arrest of Bryce A. Witchey, a Mansfield man apprehended on a charge of importuning.
On the arrest video, Witchey seemed surprised, and when Officers asked: “Are you Brice Witchey?” He responded “Yes, and I’m amazing.” Witchey didn’t seem so amazing when officers had to restrain him as he resisted arrest.
Later Witchey complained because he didn’t have any shoes on. Demanding to know what was going on, Witchey was told he was under arrest for importuning and that he was going to jail.
Witchey was arraigned on the morning of June 14, 2024, facing an F3 importuning charge.
Witchey and later waived his right to appear on June 20 in Richland County Municipal Court.
That decision led to his case being forwarded to the Richland County Grand Jury for further evaluation.
Accused of allegedly attempting to solicit a sexual encounter with an eight-year-old, Witchey engaged in explicit conversations with the child’s mother via social media, prompting the charges against him.
