BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— As fall arrives, the Crawford County Council on Aging is gearing up to assist local senior citizens with Medicare open enrollment, winter heating costs, and community programming.
Medicare Open Enrollment runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. Tiffany Crider, the Information and Referral Coordinator at the Council on Aging, encourages seniors 60 and older to review their prescription drug coverage, as plan premiums, deductibles, formularies, and participating pharmacies can change annually.
Residents seeking assistance with Medicare Part D or general coverage are advised to schedule an appointment early and bring a list of current medications along with their insurance cards.
In addition to Medicare guidance, the Council on Aging is assisting residents with Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) applications to help offset rising home heating costs.
Upcoming fall events include an Anthem MyCare Lunch and Learn on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m., followed by a presentation on health advance directives by Legal Aid on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. RSVPs for events can be made by calling Christina at 419-562-3050, ext. 226.
Seniors and family members seeking resources or utility support can contact the Crawford County Council on Aging at 419-562-3050 (ext. 229 for Tiffany) or visit their website and Facebook page.
