The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual golf outing on Wednesday. The event, which is in its 18th season, saw 30 teams packing the Bucyrus Golf Club for a four-man scramble tournament.

Executive Director of the Chamber, Deb Pinion, said that the event was “the largest fundraiser for the Chamber for the year.”

This year they limited the event to 30 teams so as to keep the event moving, and the after the round everyone was able to enjoy a pork dinner courtesy of Hord Livestock.

The winning team shot an incredible 54, 18 under par, and hailed from Crossroads Candles. Team members were Jason McMullen, Justin McMullen, Joe Bedingfield, and Nate Hill.

Other prizes were handed out for closest to the pin on several par-3’s, long drives on par-5’s, and raffles and 50/50 drawings.

Basketball great, and Ohio native, Jerry Lucas was present to shake some hands and hit some balls. Lucas, a friend of local Dr. Roy Harris, made an appearance for the “fifth or sixth year,” according to Pinion. “He’s been a regular.”

“I enjoy it very much. It’s a great event, it’s a lot of fun and people enjoy themselves,” Lucas said. “We had great weather. We were lucky, the rain skirted around us so we were all very pleased with that.”

“It went very smoothly,” Pinion stated. “A big thank you to the sponsors, the Bogey Grill, and the Bucyrus Golf Club. It was a great day.”
