The Galion Brush and Palette Club has been around for over 50 years, but now it has a place to call its very own. The club officially cut the ribbon on the Brush and Palette Art Gallery on Wednesday morning at 118 Harding Way East Rear.
āWe have the opportunity to use the building (rent free),ā said Carol Kable, a member of the art club. āA lot of the active people are involved.ā
The gallery has on display numerous pieces of artwork from club members. Kable said that is the first purpose of the art gallery.
āAnyone who displays in here, unless itās an invited show, has to be a member,ā Kable said.
The gallery had a reception for artists last Saturday and has another show planned for June. This one will be for the Crawford County Arts Council.
āWeāre going to hopefully do something every month and weāre going to have classes too,ā said Kable who is a former art teacher in the Galion City School District.
Wednesdayās ribbon cutting was through the Galion-Crestline Chamber of Commerce. Kable says the club has put a lot of effort into establishing the gallery, but she says itās been worth it.
āSo far, itās been a labor of love,ā Kable said. āOur mission is to promote and encourage the enjoyment of art in the community.ā
One of the clubās other goals is to have a Web site.
