MARION—Administrative Judge Warren T. Edwards of the Marion County Common Pleas Court, General Division recently announced that the Marion County Adult Probation Department had been awarded the Community Corrections Act 2.0 Grant in the total amount of $1,181,256.00 for the next two fiscal year grant cycles.

The C.C.A. 2.0 grant will replace the three current ODRC grants (Pre-trial, Intensive Supervision, JRIG) that expire at the end of the fiscal year at the end of this month.

The new grant will cover salaries and/or partial salaries for ten employees, sober living, alcohol monitoring, Ohio Community Supervision System (OCSS) software expenses, drug tests, and drug testing supplies (up to $50,000), and general supplies (up to $20,000).

“Grant funds such as these replace funds that would otherwise be made up of local tax dollars, reducing local taxpayer’s burden. With these funds, the total grant funds that my administration has brought into Marion’s Court system during my first term in office is more than $5.43 million. The application process for these grants can be very grueling, and with shrinking grant dollars available across the state due to the economy, I am particularly proud of the efforts of my team in obtaining this grant. My thanks go to Chief Probation Officer and Deputy Court Administrator Jennifer Ryan, Deputy Chief Probation Officer Nate George, and the Court’s Fiscal Officer Kara Sheers for their roles in securing this grant.

I also want to thank the Marion County Commissioners for approving this grant.” Jones, Edwards said.
