MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A 16-year-old boy is in custody following a fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning in Mansfield.
Deputies from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing at 1040 Lexington Ontario Road at approximately 12:29 a.m. on August 11, 2026. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male juvenile victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
First responders provided emergency life-saving measures at the scene before the victim was transported by the Springfield Township Fire Department to the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital Emergency Room. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, identified as 16-year-old Brodie Raedyn Gibson of Mansfield, was located at the scene. Following consultation with the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office, Gibson was taken into custody and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Richland County Juvenile Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office receiving assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI&I) Crime Scene Unit.
