GALION—A prominent Galion dentist resigned from his position as councilman-at-large. In a letter to Council President Eric Webber dated March 15, 2023, Dr. Thomas Fellner resigned, effective immediately.

The letter, in its entirety, was obtained by Crawford County Now:

Dear Eric,

I am writing this letter to inform you that I am resigning my position of Council at Large for the City of Galion, effective immediately.

At the beginning of this term, I felt all along that this would be my last one as Council at Large. The thought of how I should end my term had me thinking. Should I complete this term to December 31, 2023, or should I resign well before the petition deadline of August 3 to allow my position to be filled by council? This would allow my successor to experience council and run for election as an incumbent.

The events of Thursday night, March 14, solidified my decision.

I was embarrassed for the whole team of elected officials that evening.

I have waited 24 hours before putting pen to paper, and my instinctive reaction has not wavered.

Sincerely,

Dr. Thomas G. Fellner
