Cattle returned to the center stage in the arena on Wednesday afternoon for the Junior Fair Dairy Feeder competition.

The competition was split into two parts, the Showmanship competition and judging of the animal. In showmanship the handler of the cattle was judged on the behavior of the cow, how well it would stay in place. After the showmanship the animal would be judged on the fullness of the cow, as well as the bone depth the fullness of the different cuts.

Zach Morris, who participated in the Intermediate age group, explained preparations that might give him an advantage.

“I listen to what the judge wants before I go in. We take them around the ring and set their feet according to what the judge wants,” Morris said. “We keep eye contact with the judge, walk them around a couple of times, set them in different places and set their feet.”

Kendra Hudson took first place for Senior Showmanship.
