MOUNT GILEAD—The village continues to make improvements to its streets and recreation areas.
Mayor Jamie Brucker reported that “Lincoln Avenue, from HPM Street to Town Street, is getting a major renovation.”
Upgrades to the storm sewer system added fire hydrants, and improved drainage is some of the infrastructure improvements happening. Of course, at the end of the project, the entire road will be resurfaced as well, Brucker said.
This project was made possible through a Community Development Block Grant.
“This is a low matching grant, saving village residents the major financial burden of this project,” he said.
“To those who live on the street, the contractor will be working with you to allow access to get in and out of your homes. We appreciate your patience as we work to make improvements to your neighborhood.”
In other news:
The village celebrated Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, and had students from Tri-Rivers Career Center doing work on the new Riggs Memorial Dog Park.
“We are grateful for their community service and encourage our residents to visit the green park to see their handy work,” Brucker said.
The village conducted its annual clean-up.
“The clean-up days went really well and we almost doubled our trash drop-off program,” he said.
