GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A professional cleaning company south of town is giving clients spic-and-span spaces and a “quiet kind of freedom.”

Cleaning by Carrie, 3748 Cardington-Iberia Road, has been in business since 2010, providing housekeeping services to homeowners and businesses in Crawford County and the surrounding area.

“I think I was just lucky enough to start before there were other ones around and I was able to really build a good name with little competition,” said owner Carrie Cottrell. “I guess what sets me apart is my longevity.”

Cleaning by Carrie offers a top-to-bottom deep cleaning service as well as regular maintenance cleanings for homes and offices. Post construction cleaning and move-out cleanings for clients are also available.

Walkthroughs can be scheduled in advance, with pricing, task lists, and guidelines provided for each job, Cottrell said. The company employs 18 field technicians, all vetted, trained, and fully insured, she said, and three office staff.

Cottrell, who had been working as a home health aide, started cleaning homes 16 years ago for a “fun side job just while my kids were in school type of thing.” But she said it wasn’t long before the workload became unmanageable for one person.

“We just grew to the point where I needed to start hiring help and one employee eventually turned into 18,” she explained. “We really, really, grew during COVID. After the shut-down ended, we just exploded.”

In addition to dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and other household chores, Cleaning by Carrie’s commercial jobs include floor care and disinfecting the workplace. A convenient laundry service is also available for clients.

Cottrell is currently president of the Galion Kiwanis Club and serves as secretary for Main Street Galion. She was recently awarded the 2026 Professional of the Year honor by the Crawford County Chamber of Commerce.

She said that over the years word of mouth as well as her involvement in community activities has no doubt played a role in boosting her business. “I’m just very grateful to my community for their support.”
