An old building in the 100 block of North Sandusky Avenue in Bucyrus looks better than it ever has thanks to some dogged persistence and tender loving restoration.

Harris bldgPat Blank’s company, Ridgeton Restoration, took years off the facade of an office building that includes 121, 123 and 125 N. Sandusky and added a few touches of their own to the building owned by Gary Harris. Blanks said the building itself was the most ornamental he has ever worked on.

The project spanned three weeks for the labor for the building with multiple storefronts. Blank said when the work crew was power washing the structure they discovered metal where they expected a wooden base. That made it unique and an even bigger challenge.

The detail on the exterior of the old building amazed Blank. With a little bit of cedar to enhance what was already there and some paint, the building is now a piece of art in the downtown area.

The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and director Deb Pinion helped locate and apply for a grant that covered approximately two-thirds of the cost of the project.
