The search for Rebecca “Beccy” Kemper has ended but the investigation has now changed its focus to another’s involvement in the situation.

5033 Crestline Rd. Kemper homeBeccy disappeared from her home on Crestline Road late in the night on Sept. 23. Bloodhounds were brought in to search the grounds after the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was contacted, though the initial search was unsuccessful.

Beccy was discovered nearly two weeks later by FBI agents in Mansfield. The fifteen-year-old girl was found at approximately 4:05 p.m. Monday at 146 South Main Street, Apt. 1, in Mansfield.

Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent returned a call to Crawford County Now concerning further details in the investigation. According to Kent, they received a lead that Beccy had contacted an aunt through Facebook. After obtaining an address, the Mansfield FBI followed up on the lead.

Kent stated that Beccy had been at the apartment the entire time she was missing but he would not comment on the identity of the individual she was with during that time, or whether that individual had helped her leave her home. He did note that Beccy was safe, uninjured, and back with her mother.

Though the investigation originally focused on finding and bringing Beccy home, Kent said it is now changing direction to focus on the individual’s involvement. Local authorities have spoken with Beccy. Kent said the investigation is ongoing and could lead to criminal charges being filed on the unnamed individual.
