BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A community pancake fly-in breakfast will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hoard Hangar at Bucyrus Airport, offering food, aviation activities, and local history.
Event organizer Fred Fischer said the annual spring gathering welcomes both pilots and drive-in guests, though poor weather may limit aircraft participation. The event is sponsored by the Loretta Schimmoler Museum, with proceeds supporting its programs.
Volunteers from Bucyrus Kiwanis will provide staffing, preparing an all-you-can-eat menu of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice, and coffee. Credit cards will be accepted.
Organizers had also planned a Young Eagles program, offering free introductory flights for children ages 8 to 17 through the Experimental Aircraft Association, but that portion may be rescheduled if weather conditions do not improve.
The event also highlights the legacy of Loretta Schimmoler, a Bucyrus aviation pioneer credited with founding one of the nation’s earliest airports and helping establish the model for military flight nurses.
Fischer said additional events are planned later this year, including a larger fly-in in September.
