BUCYRUS—Michael Banks, 32, of Bucyrus, was indicted by the Crawford County Grand Jury on one count of criminal non-support, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on Banks’ behalf and appointed attorney Emily Beckley to represent him. He was given a personal recognizance bond.
In other court news, Monica McCleod, 50, of Bucyrus, told Judge Sean Leuthold she was done with drugs after she pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs, each a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.
In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold sentenced McCleod to five years of community control. If she fails to complete supervision, she faces 24 months in prison. She must complete all drug and alcohol assessments and any follow-up treatment.
Norman Shope, 45, of Upper Sandusky, admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. Shope was placed on community control in 2020 for possession of drugs.
According to probation officer Jeremy Clay, Shope failed to report for an office visit in May. In June, while in custody, Shope tested positive for meth, ecstasy, methamphetamines, marijuana, and alcohol. Shope was also just indicted by the grand jury on another possession of drugs charge.
In an agreed plea negotiation, Shope will serve eight months in prison on the community control violation and eight months in prison on the new charge for a total of 16 months in prison. He will forfeit all drug-related property to the appropriate authorities. He will receive 13 days of jail time credit.
