CRESTLINE—After an executive session of the Crestline Village Council during the regular meeting on Monday evening, the village has a new administrator.

At the request of council member Gene Toy, the council went into an executive session to discuss a proposed resolution to approve the mayor’s appointment of Corey Spackey as the new Village of Crestline Administrator as an emergency.

After coming back into an open meeting, the council approved Spackey’s appointment. He will fill the position of village administrator that was left vacant several weeks ago when John Rostash resigned.

The council also voted to confirm the mayor’s appointment of Amanda Fruth as a full-time administrative support person for the village as an emergency.

The council approved a resolution to authorize and direct the village administrator and mayor on behalf of the village to advertise for competitive bids and enter into a contract authorizing and directing the village administrator and Mayor to hire the lowest bidder in the amount not to exceed $162,800 for the necessary labor, materials and equipment to improve the Park Road Sewer Lift Station.

A Crestline resident attended the meeting to express his disdain for late utility bills and fees applied for late payments.

Kevin Taylor said that everyone knows the mail is running behind right now and that fees should not be applied to residents’ bills if they mail their utility payment and it is received late.

“It should go both ways. My payments go through the mail as well,” said Taylor who also pointed out he received a Christmas card on Monday that was sent out on Dec. 2.

Council member Allen Laferty made a motion to put back into place the part of the mayor’s proclamation that he made a motion to abolish at the last meeting.

“I am making a motion to put it back into place that there will be no shut-offs of water or fees applied for late payments for December’s bills that are due in January,” said Laferty.

This is effective for Crestline residents until Jan. 26.

The next village council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 1.
