BUCYRUS — A Mansfield man appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court to answer to a grand jury indictment.
Tyrell Shute, 22, pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful sexual conduct. The charge is a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison.
Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold entered a not guilty plea on Shute’s behalf. He appointed attorney Carlo Crawford to represent Shute, who was released on a personal recognizance bond.
In other court action, Christopher Barber, 26, of Mansfield had a sentencing hearing to determine how much time he will serve after admitting to felonious assault against an elderly woman.
Barber’s attorney called Psychiatrist Dr. Fabian who provided his testimony via ZOOM. A court reporter was present also so that proceedings were recorded accurately. Fabian testified that Barber had suffered child abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and had been diagnosed with Schizoid-Affective Disorder. Fabian told the court that Barber’s IQ was 74.
Taking all these factors into consideration, Leuthold sentenced Barber to four years in prison.
