BUCYRUS — Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent announced Thursday that preventative measures will be taken at the sheriff’s office due to the potential for coronavirus (COVID-19) exposure.
Sheriff Kent has suspended the following activities in the Sheriff’s Office:
- Inmate visitation
• CCW Applications
• WebCheck background fingerprinting
• ALPHA 12-step programs
• Bible Study
• Gideons prayer group
• Cognitive restructuring classes
• Anger Management classes
• Child Care classes
Only essential county employees, attorneys and necessary contractors will be allowed into the jail after going through a screening process and a temperature reading in the lobby.
“There have been no cases of coronavirus at the Justice Center and we are taking proactive preventative measures to minimize exposure,” Kent said. “Only those who feel it is necessary should come to the sheriff’s office while I have these restrictions in effect. My administrative staff and I will re-evaluate our position on March 23, 2020 as more information about COVID-19 is known and how it will affect our community long term. Thank you for your understanding.”
