BUCYRUS — A local family’s lost dog is now safely at home.

Morgan Keets said it took an army of people helping to locate her family’s dog, Harley.

“She is injured but she’s home and she’s never going anywhere without us again,” Keets said. “This world is a cruel place. She is in pain but she’s with us and will get the best care in the world.”

Harley was located near the family’s home in the Heinle Road area, but they have no idea where she was or what happened to her in the four days she was missing.

“We would like to say a very special thank you to our friends and family who dropped everything to help us get Harley,” Keets said. “She has three pelvic fractures and some pretty yucky bruising. She is very stable as far as her heart and lungs go. She ate and drank which are all good things.”

She said Harley began walking again on Saturday.

“I may never know what happened to our girl,” Keets said.

She said her family is focused on nursing their beloved Australian shepherd back to health.

“I’m angry that’s she is so scared to be alone,” Keets said. “I wish she could talk and tell us exactly what happened to her.”

Harley went missing last Sunday morning after she was let outside in the morning. Many people throughout the county searched for the missing K-9, including the Crawford County Dog Warden. Keets also was in contact with local law enforcement and is warning other dog owners to keep a close eye on their pets.

“Please don’t let these babies outside alone. It happened to her in less than five minutes, she was gone,” Keets said.

Keets said her young son, Wyatt, is extremely happy to have his dog home with him.

“He has been right by her side,” she said.

Harley was located Thursday and by Saturday, she began to walk on her own.

Keets said she credits the local community for Harley’s reunion with her family.

“I can’t thank you all enough again for your help this week,” Keets said. “I’m pretty sure I’ve never cried so hard before.”
