A total of 55 teams of high school students from Northwest Ohio competed at the Ohio Area 1 Envirothon in Defiance County, which was held at Auglaize Village on Wednesday, April 23, 2014.

The competition ended with a Wynford team comprised of Caleb Hess, Aaron Hand, Ethan Stuckey, Kymber Sand, and Annika Gerlach placing 4th. Wynford earned the honor to now compete at the Ohio State Envirothon on June 9th-10th, 2014 which will be held at Salt Fork State Park, Guernsey County.

The Envirothon is a multi-disciplinary, environmental problem solving competition hosted by Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Teams of four to five high school students train and compete in soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues.

Crawford County was represented with two teams from Wynford and Colonel Crawford. Only the top four teams from each of the five area Envirothons across the state continue to the state competition.
