CRAWFORD COUNTY—The Crawford Park District is inviting nature lovers to join them in exploring the beauty of spring wildflowers through a series of events in the coming week.
On Sunday, April 16th at 3 pm, Naturalist Warren Uxley will lead a spring wildflower walk at Sears Woods, located on Mt. Zion Road, west of Bucyrus. The walk will focus on the explosive growth of wildflowers in early spring, and how they complete their life cycle before trees block out necessary light for photosynthesis.
The following day, on Monday, April 17th at 2 pm, Naturalist Chelsea will lead another wildflower walk at Lowe-Volk Park, located 3 miles north of US Route 30. Participants can expect to take a leisurely stroll through the woodland to identify spring-blooming wildflowers, with a special focus on an uncommon hybrid violet. Photography will also be encouraged, with tips provided.
For families with young children, the Crawford Park District is hosting Little Explorers on Tuesday, April 18th at 5 pm. This interactive program is designed for children aged 0-5 and will explore the slimy and slippery world of frogs and toads. The program will include indoor and outdoor activities, so participants are advised to dress for the weather.
On Wednesday, April 19th at 6 pm, book lovers can join the Crawford Park District Book Club for a discussion on books related to the flora and fauna of nature. Members can bring any book of their choice to share and discuss while enjoying snacks themed around the book of the month. The Book Club will also be held at Lowe-Volk Park.
