The Galion Police Department has been cracking down on crime lately.

Officers arrested twenty-three-year-old Joshua S. Gottfried June 17 for the illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Two others were arrested June 19. Twenty-one-year-old Matthew M. Maag and twenty-seven-year-old Kelly A. Johnson were arrested in the area of Fairview Avenue for assault. Johnson was arrested again on Friday on another assault charge.

Christopher Bryant, 25, of Chillicothe, was arrested June 20 for possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of drugs, and receiving stolen property.

Nancy A. Sias, 48, of Ashland, was arrested June 21 for OVI, improper turn and failure to yield right half of the road.

Two were arrested in Galion on unrelated charges Saturday. Police arrested Sean Allen Britt, 20, for domestic violence and Howard Shawn Gallagher, 44, of Mansfield, for operating under FRA suspension.

Three others were arrested on Sunday on unrelated charges. Gregory A. Kelly, 44, was arrested for disorderly conduct; Debora S. Anschutz, 50, was arrested for disorderly conduct; and Ashlee R. Treisch, 27, of Mansfield, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Police in Bucyrus weren’t slouching on the job over the weekend either. On Friday, Richard L. Painter, 47, of Temple   Road, was arrested by Bucyrus police in the 500 block of South Sandusky Avenue on a Crawford County warrant. He was released pending a court appearance.

Bucyrus police arrested William W. Rigney, 47, in the 300 block of North Sandusky Avenue Saturday morning on charges of disorderly conduct. Rigney was issued a court date and transported to the county jail to be held until he was sober.

Bucyrus police arrested two others Saturday evening on unrelated charges. Robert H. Fisher, 27, was arrested at the Bucyrus Kroger store on shoplifting charges. He was released pending a court date. Michael C. Leonhart, 46, was arrested in the area of Failor and Bryant Streets on charges of domestic violence. He was transported to the county jail to be held for a court appearance.
