GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The second annual New Year’s Eve Pickle Drop is set to ring in 2024 on December 31 in Uptowne Galion, Ohio at Pub House 123, formerly known as 1803 Brewery & Taproom, located at 123 Harding Way East.

“Last year’s pickle drop was a huge success, so we are excited to host the event again to celebrate the New Year and our dill-lightful little town,” said Trudy Kempf, one of the Pub House owners. The choice of a pickle is a nod to the long-standing community Pickle Run festival.

The pickle drop will be staged in front of Pub House 123, the headquarters for this event. The venue will offer specialty beer cocktails and live music by the local band “Acoustic Tequila” from 8:00 to 10:00pm.

“We’re looking forward to this dill-ightful event, which has become a new tradition for Galion!” said Amber Wertman, a Galion Main Street board member. “Galion Main Street is proud to sponsor a portion of the special lighting for the event.”

This year’s Pickle with Personality stands a little over five feet tall and lights up, unlike last year’s gherkin. The yet-to-be-named pickle will be dropped from a height of over 30 feet at midnight. The drop will be followed by a singalong of “Auld Lang Syne” and continued celebration Uptowne.

Parking will be available at any City of Galion public parking lot, as well as behind Pub House 123. The street will be blocked off beginning at 11:30pm until 12:30am. Attendees are advised to bring a chair and dress for the weather.

In the event of inclement weather, a Picture with the Pickle (an indoor version, with photo opportunities) will be available. For more information and updates regarding the event, search for Pub House 123 on Facebook or call 567-393-9394.
