BUCYRUS — The 2018 Crawford County Jr. Fair Royalty Contest is set to take place this Sunday in the Junior Fair Building at 7:30 p.m.

Nine individuals will be running for the Jr. Fair Royalty Court this year. Each candidate submitted a bio and a photo of themselves. A compilation of their bios and photos can be found below:

Queen Candidates

Abigail Brocwell

Abigail Brocwell and is running for the 2018 Jr. Fair Queen and Royalty Court. She is the daughter of Dave and Angie Brocwell. She enjoys playing the ukulele and the piano; she also plays the saxophone and keyboard in the Colonel Crawford Band. Abigail is involved with her church youth group, Junior Fair Board, and Garden Tractor Pulling. She is a very creative and outgoing person who works well with others and is always up for a challenge.

 

 

King Candidates:

Thomas Kurek

Thomas Kurek will be a junior at Wynford High School this fall. He is the son of Edward and Karissa Kurek. This is Thomas’ tenth year in 4-H. Thomas is a member of the Holmes-Liberty Royal lions 4-H Club and the Crawford County Junior Fair Board. His 4-H project areas include leadership and citizenship, food and nutrition, robotics, electricity, aerospace science, and healthy living. Thomas currently has a 4.0 GPA and is a three-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track. He has completed four college classes through Marion Technical College and is currently enrolled at the Ohio State University at Marion Programming of Robotics. He is honored to represent his school, 4-H club, and community in the Crawford County Junior Fair Royalty Contest.

 

Princess Candidates:

Sydnee Corwin

Sydnee Corwin is the fifteen-year-old daughter of Aaron and Jill Corwin. Sydnee is representing the Dairy Maids and Gents 4-H Club, where she currently serves as the Historian for her club. She enjoys preparing her projects for the fair and the time she gets to spend with her livestock in preparing for the fair each year. Sydnee will be a sophomore at River Valley High School in the fall where she is actively involved in Junior Teen Institute, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Actively Caring for People, FFA, Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. Sydnee is a member of the St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church where she is involved with her youth group. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and volunteering for various community service events through FFA and church.

 

Corin Feik

Corin Feik is the daughter of Phillip and Michelle Feik. At fourteen-years-old, she is taking a beef feeder and a steer to the Crawford County Fair. As a member of the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club, the second largest club in the county. She has learned to work in large groups and the diverse projects that 4-H has to offer. Corin is also a proud student at William Crawford Intermediate School and takes pride in her everyday work in and outside of class. Since she has concluded the eighth grade and on the honor roll, Corin has been working with her cattle. She has been in the 4-H program for six years and has taken many different projects including:  baking, lambs, steers, and beef feeders. Her favorite project is beef feeders because her family raises them. She says they can be difficult to train, however, their personalities help her realize how fun they are to show. Corin loves showing them with her family the most because they each always take a beef feeder to the fair, which gives her more competition. Her favorite sport is basketball because her first coach was a big influence. Corin hopes this summary gives you a better understanding of why she loves family, friends, and fair.

 

Miya Kinn

Miya Marie Kinn is the daughter of Lundy Kinn and Melinda Schneider. Miya has been involved in 4-H for ten years. She is going to be a freshman at Wynford High School this upcoming school year. Miya is involved in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track and Field at Wynford. Also she is involved in Band, Project MORE, and Junior Teen Institute. Miya loves to spend quality time with family and friends. She also likes to read books in her down time.

 

 

 

Amber Ransom

Amber Ransom is the daughter of Toby and Terrie Ransom. She has been in 4-H for ten years, but four of those years was in cloverbuds, enjoying every year. From being an officer to completing her projects, doing fundraisers, learning how to get up in front of a bunch of people and doing a demonstration or speech. Amber says that 4-H has been a great experience that she will take with her for the rest of her life. 4-H has helped her in school by having to do presentations in front of her classmates. 4-H has pushed Amber to do more such as sports and clubs, 4-H has helped her be a part of more things in school and show school spirit. 4-H has also taught her how to give a proper interview, so when she does apply for a job, she can have a step up because she has done 4-H for so many years. 4-H has been a rewarding life lesson for Amber.

 

Brooke Slagle

Brooke Slagle is the fourteen-year-old daughter of Chad and Kriste Slagle. She enjoys spending time with her friends, baking, playing basketball, and being involved in 4-H. She has been in 4-H for five years, completing a variety of Department One and Livestock projects. Brooke has also participated in Favorite Foods and Public Speaking Contests at the fair. She has been a part of Junior Teen Institute, Student Council, Academic Challenge, basketball, and track. She is a dedicated student and athlete who will give 110% effort in everything she does. Brooke has a positive attitude and outgoing personality that will benefit the Crawford County Junior Fair Royalty Court tremendously. Her goal is to be someone who little girls can look up to and want to be like someday, just as she did when she was their age. Being on the Junior Fair Royalty Court would allow her the opportunity to encourage the youth to stretch their own abilities in an effort to reach their goals.

 

Sheba Sulser

Sheba is the fourteen-year-old daughter of Ken and Theresa Sulser. Sheba will be attending Colonel Crawford High School in the fall. She is very active and fully involved in everything she sets her mind to. She says that she is the kind of girl you don’t want to mess with but would always protect you. She always strives to put others before herself. Sheba loves to play games with others but would never pass up the opportunity to compete in her favorite sports: cross country and track. She has always loved running, it has not only helped build her willpower and determination but it has also helped her gain respect for others who put so much work into one thing and never give up. However, before she learned all that she has from running, she was involved in 4-H. Even before kindergarten Sheba felt like a 4-H member. She would always tag along to her brother’s 4-H meetings and would even get involved in some of the activities. Above all else, Sheba says that 4-H has taught her responsibility and helped shape her into the girl she is today.

 

Prince Candidates:

Daniel Kurek

Daniel Kurek is the son of Edward and Karissa Kurek. He will be a freshman at Wynford High School this fall. Daniel has an older brother and a younger sister. Daniel is a nine-year member of the Holmes-Liberty Royal Lions 4-H Club. His 4-H project areas include money management, robotics, electricity, aerospace science, and healthy living. In the fall, Daniel will be serving on his high school’s student council, playing his trombone with the Wynford High School Marching Band, and participating in the Wynford High School football program. Daniel’s future career plan is to be a robotics engineer involved in the design of robots. He is excited to participate in the Crawford County Junior Fair Royalty Contest.
