BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Mansfield man was airlifted to a Columbus hospital Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle crash involving a concrete truck on U.S. Route 30 in Crawford County.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency crews responded to the incident on U.S. 30, just east of State Route 602, at approximately 11:24 a.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, Christopher Hargett, 50, of Mansfield, was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 operating a 1994 Ford L9000 concrete truck when the vehicle’s right rear tire blew out.
Deputies said the blowout caused the heavy truck to veer off the right side of the westbound lane. Hargett briefly traveled back onto the highway before the vehicle crossed over to the left side of the roadway, entered the median, and overturned.
Hargett sustained injuries in the crash and was transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. His current medical condition has not been released.
Responding agencies at the scene included the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Township Fire, Whetstone Township Fire, LifeFirst EMS, and MedFlight.
The highway remained restricted for a period Tuesday while emergency crews cleared the wreckage. The crash remains under active investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
