BUCYRUS—Darius Thompson, 55, of Galion, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs, each fourth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to 18 months in prison.
In a negotiated plea agreement, Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Thompson to 15 months in prison on each count for a total of 30 months in prison.
Judge Leuthold postponed Thompson’s report date to prison for at least ninety days so he could seek medical treatment for a serious health condition. He will receive credit for jail time served.
An Indiana woman who turned herself in last Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest pleaded guilty to violating her probation. Tequila Crockett, 39, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, had posted a $25,000.00 bond. Judge Leuthold continued her Pretrial twice because of alleged medical conditions but issued a warrant after not appearing a third time last week. Crockett’s retained attorney, Joel Spitzer, presented a prescription-type document explaining her medical treatment. Upon investigation, Judge Leuthold learned Crockett was seen in an emergency room but was not admitted to a hospital.
According to probation officer Chris Heydinger, Crockett failed to report to her supervising officer in Indiana after her case was transferred from Bucyrus. As a result, Indiana refused to continue her supervision. She also failed to get court-ordered drug and alcohol assessments and any follow-up treatment. She tested positive for fentanyl on two occasions. At this appearance, Crockett did show proof of a series of ongoing medical treatments she needs to complete.
Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Crockett to eight months in prison on count one and seven months in prison on each of the other two counts. The last two counts will run concurrently for a total sentence of 15 months in prison. Crockett will receive all jail time credit. Judge Leuthold told Crockett he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it. Crockett was given a report date of January 2, 2022, at 7 pm to complete her treatment regimen.
An arrest warrant was issued for Dustin Engler,39, of Galion. Engler was served a summons to appear on a grand jury indictment for theft, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison. He was ordered to be held in custody until a bond hearing.
