GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A Galion man is facing a felonious assault charge following a stabbing incident early Thursday morning.
According to Galion Police Chief Ryan Strange, officers responded during the early morning hours of Oct. 8 to the area of the Church Street overpass following a report of two individuals fighting.
While officers were responding, dispatch received additional information that one of the individuals had been stabbed.
Officers located the victim in the 200 block of Liberty Street suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported by EMS to Galion Avita for treatment. The victim’s condition was reported as stable.
Police said their investigation determined that an ongoing argument between two males escalated into a physical confrontation. During the confrontation, a knife was produced and the victim was stabbed multiple times.
Responding officers quickly secured the suspect and recovered what police believe to be the weapon used in the incident.
Gavin Bloomfield was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and transported to the Crawford County Justice Center for retainment. The case was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review of all potential charges.
