A former Crawford County athlete made his way into the NCAA record books over the weekend by running wild at Baldwin-Wallace’s Finney Stadium. Galion alumnus Cartel Brooks set the NCAA single-game rushing record, regardless of division, with a 465-yard, three-touchdown performance.
Brooks is a junior at Heidelberg and has now rushed for over 1,700 yards on the season. Brooks’ scoring runs were 13, 41 and 81 yards in the Berg’s win over the Yellow Jackets. Brooks’ performance earned him mention on ESPN where he was awarded a coveted helmet sticker from the trio on College Football Final.
Brooks was a second-team, Division III All-American as a sophomore.
