GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—On Sunday, May 3, 2026, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Preserving Galion, Inc. invites the public to step back in time with “Founders & Firsts,” a narrated walking tour of the historic Fairview Cemetery. The event is part of the statewide America 250-Ohio celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States by highlighting the local figures who shaped the region’s history.

Participants will explore the stories of several notable Galion figures. The tour aims to balance well-known historical names with lesser-known pioneers, offering new insights even to lifelong residents. Unlike traditional “ghost walks,” this event is a narrated educational visit and will not feature costumed reenactors.

In an effort to support the continued preservation of local heritage, half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fairview Cemetery Association to assist with the upkeep and care of the grounds.

Guests are asked to park near the cemetery’s Mausoleum, where staff will direct them to the starting point. Organizers suggest wearing comfortable shoes, as the event involves a significant amount of walking across the cemetery terrain.

In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be cancelled. A final status update will be posted to the Gillhouse Galion Facebook page by noon on the day of the event, and all ticket purchases will be refunded.
